Storytelling is really two words: story vs telling.
It's not enough to have a good story: how, when, where and to whom you tell it, matters just as much.
In this session we're going to explore how to become better at public speaking: a secret weapon in the world of work, and a skill that our education system puts little to no emphasis on. Whether you want to improve your general presenting, spontaneous storytelling or have your sights set on some professional public speaking, this will be an informal chance to practice with others in short bursts and get feedback.
Similar to Toastmasters but with a pirate twist. This session will be hosted by Flora Blathwayt.
Mutiny Mentoring is a chance to throw some collective weight and brain power behind the challenges we're facing as aspiring pirates. It can be a difficult and lonely path to try and bring about change, so aside from solidarity and crew support, the idea it to crowdsource advice and practical ideas.
While the last six weeks have been a bit shit by all accounts, this moment is also a clear opportunity to rewrite some outdated rules
So what are we going to do differently? What should we keep from lockdown and what should we deliberately let die?
As the engine room of business and bureaucracy fires up again, how are we going to protect the changes we want to keep?

Alex will be talking about how the Pirate Code created trust, accountability, transparency and the earliest form of self management; examples of rule breaking from organisations they've worked with; why we should be replacing management with 'Mutiny.'

Agitate Music is a new music collective for young people affected by homelessness. Their Summer Launch Party will showcase exciting young artists to the general public and representatives from the music industry. The artists will be curating, presenting and performing a unique theatrical experience unlike any gig you have ever been to. A night of new music with story and soul! An alternative to the end of the week work-moan fest. Alex will host a very informal mutiny mentoring session on the first Thursday of August. Central London, pub based. The goal will be to identify what's getting in the way at work (and in life), and commit to some small but bold actions that we will hold each other accountable to.
